The Florida Highway Patrol has arrested a man accused of a fatal hit-and-run crash in Lehigh Acres.

FHP arrested Jose Manuel Aguiar-Meza, 40, on Monday following an investigation into the hit-and-run that occurred on March 30.

Troopers initiated the investigation after an unknown pickup truck turned left in front of an approaching motorcycle on 40th Street Southwest at approximately 9:45 p.m.

The truck then struck the vehicle, killing the motorcyclist, a 54-year-old man, and seriously injuring his passenger, a 53-year-old woman, both from Lehigh Acres.

The truck then left the scene.

FHP released images of the suspected pickup truck involved in the crash, a 2017 GMC Sierra.

After their investigation, troopers concluded that the alleged driver of the truck was Aguiar-Meza.

He was then arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail.
