Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a news conference in Tallahassee regarding post-Hurricane Milton and the impacts made in the state.

In the conference held on Thursday, DeSantis addressed the preliminary damages reported from the hurricane.

First responders have been deployed throughout the night to assist where needed.

The hurricane fortunately made landfall earlier than expected and storm surge impacts were less significant than anticipated.

The Florida National Guard along with other Florida official agencies are surveying the impacted areas.

The areas with the most significant power outages are as follows:

  • Hillsborough County—75% without power
  • Hardee County—97% without power
  • Manatee County—82% without power
  • Pinellas County—67% without power
  • Sarasota—75% without power

Debris has been reported on Sunshine Skyway Bridge, which will be taken care of throughout Thursday.
