The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating an outbreak of e-coli linked to tainted carrots.

According to the CDC, the outbreak has affected 39 people as of Sunday, causing one death and 15 hospitalizations across 18 states.

Investigators traced the organic carrots to Grimmway Farms, a carrot producer in Bakersfield, California.

The company has recalled its bagged organic baby and whole carrots. They were sold under several brand names, including Trader Joe’s, Wegmans and Sprouts.

The FDA said the carrots were sold in popular grocery stores, including Trader Joe’s, Sprouts, Whole Foods, Walmart and Target.

The baby organic carrots had a best-if-used-by date ranging from Sept. 11 to Nov. 12.

The whole organic carrots had a use-by date ranging from Aug. 14 to Oct. 23.

If you have any of these in your refrigerator, you are advised to throw them out or bring them back to the store you bought them for a refund.
