The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle crash in Lee County, where a driver was ejected from his seat and killed.

Troopers responded to the deadly crash on Bell Boulevard and State Road 82 at around 5 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to FHP, a 24-year-old man from Lehigh Acres was traveling south on Bell Boulevard, approaching a stop sign at the intersection of SR-82.

Two vehicles, one driven by a 57-year-old man from Cape Coral and another by a 57-year-old man from Immokalee, were traveling west on the inside and outside lanes of SR-82.

Troopers said the 24-year-old blew the stop sign, entering the direct path of one of the approaching vehicles.

The front of the Cape Coral man’s vehicle collided with the left side of the 24-year-old’s vehicle, fatally ejecting the Lehigh Acres man from the driver’s seat of his car.

The third vehicle then ran into the ejected driver.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers noted that the 24-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

A female passenger in the Cape Coral man’s vehicle sustained minor injuries.

No additional injuries were reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
