Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has named State Attorney General Ashley Moody the next Florida Senator, replacing Marco Rubio.

Rubio was nominated as Secretary of State under President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet.

During his appointment, DeSantis mentioned that Republicans are given a prime opportunity to take advantage of approaching Trump’s inauguration.

The governor spoke on the importance of closing borders, taking aim at illegal immigration and President Joe Biden’s relaxed approach.

DeSantis then called for the removal of liberal ideologies from the national school system.

Before naming Moody as the next senator, DeSantis said that the decision to replace Rubio came under great consideration, ultimately deciding on her, believing that Moody would be a significant component in backing the incoming administration’s policies.

Moody then took the podium to speak on being named the next Florida Senator, vowing that her ideologies will not change as she transitions to her new role.

She then promised to adhere to DeSantis and Trump’s new policies implemented during the next presidential administration.
