Deadly crash involving vehicle and motorcyclist in Charlotte County

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash involving a motorcycle and a car in Charlotte County.

According to FHP, the crash occurred around 3 p.m. on Monday at Gasparilla Road and Keystone Boulevard.

FHP reports that a vehicle driven by a 66-year-old man from Lancaster stopped on Gasparilla Road, on the left turn lane, north of Keystone Boulevard.

A 42-year-old man from Port Charlotte was driving a motorcycle north on Gasparilla Road, south of Keystone Boulevard.

According to troopers, the car failed to yield to traffic while making a left turn, blocking the motorcyclist’s path.

The motorcycle collided with the right side of the car, causing serious injuries to the Port Charlotte man.

He was later transported to a local area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
