Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is looking to enhance law enforcement’s role in helping the federal government with immigration policies.

He announced this at a news conference in Jacksonville on Thursday.

Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Executive Director Dave Kerner and Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters joined DeSantis.

DeSantis talked about what Florida is going to do moving forward with immigration in the state.

Of the many topics he focused on, all fell under the umbrella of immigration policies in Florida, and he asked other states to give their two cents on the matter.

He asked for adequate legal authorities and legal funding for immigration reinforcement.

He emphasized gang enforcement and how the state will prioritize cracking down on that.

He is looking to see progress in this by next week.
