Charlotte deputies searching for armed suspect on the run

The hunt is on for a suspect who fled from Charlotte County deputies when they went to arrest him on a Sarasota warrant on Sunday.

His name is Jacques Gentis.

During the attempts to take Gentis into custody, a deputy fired a single shot, but no one was injured.

Deputies said he is considered armed and dangerous.

The search is taking place near Parker Drive and Lemon Bay Road in Englewood.

Gentis has arrest warrants for armed burglary, property damage and grand theft.

He also has two bench warrants for firing a weapon into a dwelling and drug possession.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office asks that people be cautious and vigilant in the area of Englewood.
