There will be a quarter auction in Punta Gorda to benefit Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Sgt. Elio Diaz, who died last year while conducting a traffic stop.

Diaz was shot and killed in the line of duty in December at a gas station in Charlotte Harbor, where he discovered that the would-be shooter, Andrew Mostyn, was driving without insurance and a suspended license.

Since his death, the community has rallied to support his family, including the team at a local IHOP.

According to SWFL Vendors For A Cause, a quarter auction will be held at Beef O’ Bradys on Taylor Road on Monday.

A quarter auction is a raffle-style auction versus a traditional auction.

As a quarter auction participant, paddle sales start at 5:30 p.m. while the auction begins at 7 p.m.

SWFL Vendors For A Cause recommends you bring a supply of quarters.
