The Port Charlotte teen charged with killing his mother, Catherine Griffith, has been found not guilty of her murder and kidnapping.

Collin Griffith was accused of fatally stabbing Catherine Griffith last fall during an argument at his grandmother’s house in Auburndale.

He claimed she lunged at him with a knife during the confrontation, falling on the weapon and dying.

Prior to this case, the teen faced first-degree murder charges in Oklahoma for shooting and killing his father.

The 17-year-old said his father had pulled a knife on him, and he shot and killed him.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said he was let go because there was not enough evidence to disprove his claims.

Those charges were dropped because he claimed he acted in self-defense.

During the trial, neighbors testified that they witnessed an argument between the two before Collin allegedly dragged his mother inside the house.
