The South Florida Water Management District plans to conduct a 78-acre prescribed burn on Thursday.

According to Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District, the prescribed burn will be in the CREW Management Area in Collier County.

The burn unit is in the CREW Management Area, approximately 5 miles south of SR 82 and 1.5 miles east of Corkscrew Road.

You may see or smell smoke in the burn area and neighboring areas. Anyone with asthma is asked to stay indoors and away from smoke.

If the fire grows and is deemed “out-of-control,” the Bonita Springs Fire District may be asked to assist with mutual aid to extinguish it.

Until then, the Florida Forest Service and the person/business conducting the burn will be responsible for the fire.
