Pedestrian killed while attempting to cross Hancock Bridge Parkway

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash involving a pedestrian attempting to cross Hancock Bridge Parkway in Lee County.

According to troopers, the crash occurred at around 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, east on Hancock Bridge Parkway and east of Marinatown Lane.

A 40-year-old man from Jefferson City was traveling down the roadway, while a 63-year-old woman from North Fort Myers was attempting to cross the travel lanes of Hancock Bridge Parkway from the south shoulder to the center grassy median.

The vehicle crashed into the woman, causing critical injuries.

The woman was transported to an area hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
