The Cape Coral Police Department is actively investigating a scene located on Skyline Boulevard where one minor was hospitalized with a gunshot wound.

Authorities said that this is an isolated incident.

The shooting was reported to police at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Thursday near SW 31st St. and Skyline Blvd.

According to CCPD, two people are in custody. It remains unclear how they were involved in the shooting.

The age or the condition of the minor has not yet been released.

Upon arrival at the scene, caution tape was placed throughout the perimeter while law enforcement gathered information.

Police began their assessment of the area, focusing primarily on several vehicles near the scene.

Officers pulled over two pickup trucks, where the drivers were asked to open the beds of their vehicles for inspection.

After concluding their search, the two pickup trucks were allowed to leave.

It remains unclear if the direction of the investigation has led to searching vehicles for evidence.

WINK News deployed reporter Sommer Senne onto the scene to investigate this scene further.

An early report of the scene found that K-9 units and forensics had been called to assist the CCPD.

The CCPD posted on their X account that residents should avoid SW 28th Street, SW 29th Terrace, and SW 30th Terrace, as a large police presence will be present.

CCP said that detectives are in the process of obtaining additional search warrants.
