The Courts Cape Coral is now open, offering a new hub for pickleball enthusiasts in the area.

The courts are designed for large-scale tournaments, and the community gathered to celebrate the opening this morning.

“This is huge for Cape Coral,” said Virgil Storm, a local pickleball enthusiast.

The new facility replaced the Lake Kennedy Racquet Center and quickly became a focal point for the community. Families and friends filled the courts, enjoying live music and food from a busy grill.

“We’re trying to create a vibrant environment here within Cape Coral, and this is the center point of that,” said a representative from Cape Coral Parks and Recreation.

The courts aim to bring people together to socialize and stay active. Diana Moore, another pickleball enthusiast, is excited about the pro tour visiting the courts in March.

“It also brings those pros, and we learn from that,” said Moore.

For some, like Marlon Moncada, pickleball has been life-changing.

“I went through rehab after my heart attack, but then I realized that I needed to be more active, and pickleball was the center of it,” said Moncada.

With all 32 courts occupied, Moncada is willing to wait for his turn to play, believing in the sport’s unifying power.

“Pickleball is for everybody,” Moncada said. “And I’m telling you, Pickleball is bringing people together, and hopefully, it will bring the whole world together.”

The Courts Cape Coral is set to unite the community and all of Southwest Florida, one game at a time.
