Sanibel is gearing up for its March 4 election, as voters will head to the polls from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Polls are at two locations: The Sanibel Community House on Periwinkle Way and the Sanibel Recreation Center on Sanibel Captiva Road.

According to the city, residents will elect three candidates to the Sanibel City Council from a pool of four: Laura DeBruce, John Henshaw, Mike Miller and Lyman “Chip” Welch.

Additionally, a Charter Amendment referendum will be on the ballot. It proposes changes to how vacancies on the City Council are filled.

A yes vote allows the Council discretion in appointing interim members and extends the special election deadline to 210 days.

A no vote maintains current procedures and a 150-day special election timeframe.
