A convicted sexual predator has been arrested after allegedly being caught living near a playground in Naples.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office arrested 85-year-old Luis Antonio Chavez on Tuesday after an investigation revealed he violated his residency restrictions.

According to CCSO, Chavez is prohibited from living within 1,000 feet of a school, child-care facility, park or playground following his 2007 conviction on a charge of lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim younger than 12.

Chavez obtained a new driver’s license that listed his permanent address as the 8600 block of Weir Drive in Naples.

Detectives said the address is located within 1,000 feet of two playgrounds.

Detectives also discovered Chavez failed to notify authorities that he no longer works at his registered place of employment, a church.

Chavez is being charged with failing to comply with Florida residency restrictions on persons convicted of certain sex offenses.
