Officers with the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a criminal mischief incident involving two juveniles.

The Sandoval Community Director reported that two 13-year-old boys had intentionally cut the fence between the Sandoval and Cape Royal communities on Feb. 8.

Officers confirmed that the damage was estimated at $1,000.

The suspects were caught on surveillance footage using various methods to damage the fence.

Detectives in the Property Crimes Unit launched an investigation. They sent photos of the juvenile suspects to all the school resource officers in the area to attempt to identify them. One school resource officer identified both juveniles.

The two were charged with criminal mischief worth $1,000 or more. Following their arrest, they were transported to an assessment center.

The investigation revealed that the boys cut through the fence to go fishing on the other side.
