A child is recovering after being injured in a two-vehicle crash in Lehigh Acres early Tuesday morning.

The crash happened a little after 7 a.m. and blocked all westbound lanes on State Road 82 at Haviland Avenue, just west of Daniels Parkway.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the child was trauma alerted to a local hospital.

LCSO said both State Road 82 westbound lanes and, later, only one lane was blocked due to the crash. It caused major backups during the early morning rush.

Both lanes have since reopened.

Two tow trucks arrived at the scene and took both vehicles involved, a black car and a black SUV that was smashed in the front with what appears to be the driver and passenger side airbags deployed.

LCSO was the only agency present at the scene. The scene has since been cleared.
