The Lee County School District‘s central office is currently under a hiring freeze. WINK News confirmed this exclusive development.

Superintendent Dr. Denise Carlin ordered the freeze.

“If there are essential needs, district leaders may make that request of me, and we will discuss,” said Carlin.

This hiring freeze does not affect school positions, only the central office. Carlin is currently assessing which roles within the central office are impacted.

The district’s website lists 36 openings for central service locations. These include positions such as principal, assistant principal, school psychologist and anticipated openings for speech pathologists.

School Board Member Debbie Jordan received an email regarding the hiring freeze Tuesday night.

The reasons behind the hiring freeze and whether it may extend to other departments remain under investigation.
