Bonita Springs residents have an opportunity to dispose of household chemical waste safely and responsibly.

Lee County Solid Waste and the City of Bonita Springs are hosting the collection, which offers an easy drive-through process for residents at no charge.

The event is exclusively for residents.

Businesses needing chemical waste disposal should contact MXI Environmental Services at 276-477-0947 to schedule an appointment at the monthly business collection at the county’s permanent Household Chemical Waste drop-off location, 6441 Topaz Court, in South Fort Myers.

Lee County Solid Waste reminds residents about the importance of proper battery disposal.

Many products contain lithium-ion batteries, which can be hazardous if not disposed of correctly.

Lithium-ion batteries are found in electronic devices, power tools, game controllers, digital cameras and more. Proper disposal is crucial to prevent hazards.

They could ignite in garbage trucks and start fires.

This event, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, will be held at Bonita Springs Recreation Center, located at 26740 Pine Ave.
