Fort Myers police are offering an incentive of $3,000 to in-state applicants and $5,000 for out-of-state applicants. Kristin Capuzzi, with the Fort Myer Police Department, said, “we have different specialty units. And for us, we also again, have the physical ability test, we have, you know, different requirements, whether it be, you know, firearms training, many different trainings that we go through, but the basic academy, which we pay for the person to go through at first, you know, it’s got a lot of different aspects to it.” A non-certified officer will make $19.72 an hour, and once certified, the number goes up to $22.94 an hour.
