City of Naples Fire Rescue responded to a building fire near Lowdermilk Park on Gulf Shore Boulevard North.

Firefighters responded to the fire at the Moorings apartment complex early Thursday morning.

WINK News arrived on the scene after the fire was put out, where reporter Sommer Senne spoke with neighbors.

One witness mentioned smelling smoke on the third floor of the building at around 3:15 a.m.

The witness continued to say the fire alarm failed to activate, prompting him to call the fire department.

Once the fire department arrived on the scene, crews focused on the third floor of the building, where the fire was billowing out.

Crews have since contained the fire; however, it remains unclear how much damage it caused.

Neighbors told us that some of the condos have between 1 1/2 and three inches of water damage, and they have yet to be allowed back into them.

What ignited the remains under investigation.
