On Thursday, FEMA determined that unincorporated Lee County residents with policies issued under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) will maintain the 25% rate discount.

Bonita Springs will maintain their 25% discount.

Cape Coral also announced that residents will maintain their 25% discount.

“I am proud to announce that Cape Coral has successfully retained its Class 5 rating, ensuring a 25% discount on flood insurance for our residents and businesses,” said Cape Coral Mayor John Gunter. “This achievement highlights our City’s resilience and ongoing commitment to protecting our community while preparing for future challenges.”

Estero will maintain the discount rate of 20%

County officials and homeowners have been in limbo for months since getting the notice they could lose the discount because of irregularities with rebuilding after Hurricane Ian.

County leaders are holding a news conference at 4 p.m. Thursday. To watch the Facebook live stream, visit www.facebook.com/leecountyflbocc
