LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help tracking down two armed, black males who held up the Popeye’s Chicken restaurant on Palm Beach Boulevard earlier this month.

Just as employees were closing the restaurant on Tuesday, June 2, around 11 p.m., the two suspects entered through the back door. The men ordered all employees to the ground at gunpoint, while forcing the manager to empty the safe and all three cash registers.

Authorities say one of the employees, who is pregnant, was also kicked in the knee, causing her to fall onto the floor. Both suspects were dressed in all black, with gloves on and their faces concealed, carrying semi-automatic hand guns — one with an extended magazine.

After securing all of the store’s cash, both suspects ran out the back door.

“These suspects have shown a strong propensity for violence, and if they got away with this armed robbery, there’s a high likelihood that they will strike again,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator.  “Anyone who has first hand information about these men, or who have even heard talk about the suspects is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers.  Taking these two violent offenders off the streets will ensure a higher level of safety for the entire community.”

Anyone with information on the armed Popeye’s robbers is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.
