Man accused of armed robberies in Cape Coral, south Fort Myers

CAPE CORAL, Fla. A man arrested in connection to an armed robbery in south Fort Myers has been linked to another in Cape Coral.

Robert Lambertson, 40, of the 1300 block of Southwest 14th Terrace in Cape Coral, is accused of robbing the Perkins restaurant on 14801 S. Tamiami Trail and a 7-Eleven on 12 NE Pine Island Road, Cape Coral police said.

Lambertson was arrested early Saturday morning after Lee County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Perkins, where he’s said to have shown a gun to a waitress and attempted to steal a tip jar, police said. Onlookers alerted authorities.

A clerk at the 7-Eleven told police a man pointed a gun at him and demanded cash from the register before fleeing with a small amount of money, police said.

That robbery took place about two hours before the Perkins robbery, according to police, who credit investigation and interagency cooperation for helping pin Lambertson to both.

“Criminals should take note that regardless of where in Lee County you are, local law enforcement is working together to make sure our community is safe,” Cape Coral Police Cpl. Phil Mullen said in a press release.

Lambertson remains in custody facing multiple charges.
