Scattered p.m. storms, triple-digit heat indices to persist

Published: Updated:

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Southwest Florida summer pattern will continue this weekend, with scattered afternoon and evening storms and highs in the mid-90s.

Heat index values will make it feel like 100 degrees or more during the hottest part of the day. Overnight lows will dip into the mid-70s.

Two areas of interest exist in the tropics. One has a moderate chance to develop into a tropical weather system, but both are well to the east in the Atlantic Ocean and appear unlikely to affect Southwest Florida.
