SANIBEL, Fla. The island’s 911 system was restored Thursday evening, the city manager’s office said.
It initially appeared to affect both cellphones and landlines. Later, the city manager’s office said only landlines were impacted.
A CenturyLink failure caused the issue, according to the city manager’s office. But a CenturyLink spokesperson said the company rerouted 911 calls from landlines to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
