NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. One person was killed Sunday night in a crash on U.S. 41, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The wreck happened around 9:47 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 41 and Hancock Bridge Parkway, according to the FHP. The pedestrian was killed was walking across U.S. 41 westbound and was struck by a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, State troopers said. The Volkswagen came to a stop blocking the southbound outside lane of U.S. 41 and the pedestrian fell in front of the vehicle. It’s unclear if alcohol was involved for the pedestrian, according to State troopers.
