Credit: CBS Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services Nikki Fried provided an update on Monday on the investigation into the death of a 14-year-old at an Orlando amusement park. On March 24, the 14-year-old fell to his death from the Orlando Drop Tower ride at Icon Park in Orlando. Fried said that an investigation into the mechanical aspects of the rise determined that the ride’s operator made manual adjustments that made the ride unsafe. The investigation found the modifications to the seat’s sensor allowed the safety harness opening to be almost double the normal opening range while still indicating that the ride’s harness was in a safe position.
