The American Federation of Teachers’ president admits what she wrote on Twitter about certain books being banned in Florida, isn’t true.

Two of those books put on the false list were, To Kill a Mockingbird and A Wrinkle in Time.

Randi Weingarten later tweeted, “I should have double-checked before I retweeted this list.”

Looks like some of the books weren’t banned and she also added that book bans are very real and dangerous.

Stories of banning books like To Kill a Mockingbird seem to have come from the release of a book list the Collier County school district put under review.

To Kill a Mockingbird is not on the Collier County list.

Rather, the titles include those with LGBTQ+ characters, transgender characters, characters of color, sexual content, and some are picture books for young children.
