A Golden Gate man faces a manslaughter charge after deputies say he accidentally, fatally shot his significant other in bed on Sunday morning.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Sincere, 23, was arrested after deputies and EMS responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting around 7:40 a.m. The caller said the victim appeared dead. When deputies arrived, they found the victim, seemingly deceased, on a bedroom floor at the foot of a bed. The victim had an apparent gunshot injury and was bleeding profusely.

EMS entered the apartment and declared the victim dead at 7:46 a.m. The caller later told detectives she heard a gunshot from the victim’s bedroom and a thud on the floor; when she entered the bedroom, she saw the victim on the floor bleeding. The victim’s boyfriend, Sincere, was reportedly cradling the victim’s body.

Sincere told the caller the shooting was an accident. Neither the caller nor a second roommate reported hearing an argument or anything out of the ordinary before the gunshot.

After homicide detectives interviewed Sincere, it was decided his actions showed a reckless disregard for human life and that “he must have known, or reasonably should have known, his actions of playing with a loaded firearm in bed with another person were likely to cause death or great bodily injury,” according to the arrest report.

Sincere was transported to the Naples Jail Center. He faces a charge of manslaughter with a firearm.
