Due to the recent drownings reported in Collier County, the NCH North Naples Hospital held a news conference to teach water safety to children.

The NCH Safe & Healthy Children’s Coalition held the news conference, teaching children about the four layers of prevention, as drownings can occur in mere seconds.

According to NCH, the four layers of prevention are as follows:

  • Pool fences or alarms
  • Designate a watcher
  • Swimming lessons
  • Learning CPR

The news conference was on Friday at the North Naples Hospital main lobby located at 11190 Health Park Boulevard.

The coalition heavily suggests swimming lessons.

For those unable to afford lessons, the coalition offers free lessons through WaterSmartCollier.org.
