The Lee County sand cleanup operation will be temporarily suspended while crews are diverted toward collecting hurricane debris.

Operations will be paused starting on Friday.

Residents affected by this will include Estero Boulevard in Fort Myers Beach and Hickory Boulevard in Bonita Springs.

The county plans to return to make a final pass for sand placed in the right-of-way once residential debris is removed from the two main roads mentioned above.

Those in Bonita Springs and Fort Myers Beach who do not live on either of the streets mentioned are advised to contact their local city hall for any debris collection questions.

Sand removal operations in Boca Grande are expected to continue during this time.

Captiva residents can expect sand removal operations to begin next week.
