A driver not paying attention to the road slams into several deputy patrol cars.

Lee County deputies say the driver smashed into the side of one patrol car causing a chain reaction with three other cars.

Body-worn camera footage after the crash is shocking to watch.

Around 2 a.m. on Sunday, Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies were on the scene of a crash investigation assisting Florida Highway Patrol at Interstate 75 at the exit ramp to Corkscrew Road.

That’s when investigators say a driver not paying attention to the flashing lights or the roadblock slammed into a deputy’s cruiser causing a four-vehicle crash that left one deputy hurt and the driver hospitalized.

The crash report says when deputies went to help that driver a movie was still playing on their phone.

The driver who crashed into deputies is still in the hospital. LCSO says the deputy is doing good and will be okay.
