BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.- The iconic ship that sits on U.S. 41 will be torn down.
The City Council voted Wednesday morning to bring it down.
A developer wants the city to rezone the land so he can build a housing facility for people 55 and older.
If rezoning and construction is approved, the developers plan to expand the area from 13 acres to 17 acres and add the new facility with 180 units and a dog park.
