Father of baby Chance Walsh extradited, faces murder charge

Published: Updated:

SARASOTA, Fla. – The father of baby Chance Walsh is on his way back to Florida. Joseph Walsh left the Jasper County Jail, in South Carolina, Sunday around 9:45PM. Officials say the drive usually takes around seven hours but would not say which route they would be taking.

Chance’s mother, Kristen Bury, 32, is facing a first degree murder charge in the death of the baby who was missing from North Port for several weeks. Bury arrived at the Sarasota County jail late Friday night.

Once Joseph Walsh arrives at the Sarasota County Jail he will also face a first degree felony murder charge, according to an arrest affidavit.

Arrest documents say Bury told investigators where they could find Chance’s body. Detectives made the discovery last week in a dense, wooded area about 13 miles from Chance’s home. The medical examiner is now working to confirm if the remains are those of Chance Walsh.
