CAPE CORAL, Fla. Police believe alcohol was a factor in a serious crash that clogged traffic Thursday afternoon, the Cape Coral Police Department said.

The head-on collision happened shortly after 2 p.m. in the 1300 block of Cape Coral Parkway West. The roadway was partially blocked for about two hours, police said.

77-year-old Dolores Corinne Fiorentini of Cape Coral was trauma alerted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. It was later discovered that Fiorentini had a medical blood alcohol level of .222, police said. 50-year-old Sebastian Lopez Gonzalez of Cape Coral was also taken to a hospital and suffered from minor injuries.

Fiorentini was driving a 2009 Nissan Versa on the wrong side of the road heading west on the east lanes. Gonzalez was driving a 1999 Ford F-350 truck east on Cape Coral Parkway when Fiorentini collided into the front of his vehicle, police said.

Their current health condition is unclear this time.
