A new program at Naples Community Hospital has patients upset that they don’t have the choice to choose their own physician, instead, they now have to use physicians employed by NCH.

A County Commissioner we talked to used the word “dismayed” to describe how people are feeling toward the change.

“It’s a slap in the face for the people in our community,” said Commissioner Penny Taylor.

Commissioner Penny now wants the county to send a letter to NCH asking them to step back on the rule, she believes the community that has supported the hospital to be able to weigh in on the decision.

Naples city council has already sent a similar request.

NCH maintains that the change is in the best interest of their patients.

A board meeting on Tuesday at 10 AM, in Collier County will discuss the option to send a letter from the Chairman to NCH to push back the decision.
