Juan Kendrick Nieves (Photo provided by CCPD) Cape Coral police are looking for a suspect in an attempted homicide. The suspect is Juan Kendrick Nieves, 47, a black male described as 5’8” and 185 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen driving a red 2018 Chrysler Pacifica bearing Florida tag 6999VC. He is wanted in an attempted homicide investigation, and is considered armed and dangerous. Investigators aren’t saying what exactly happened with Nieves, but police have been at a home in the area of NE 15th Place and NE 19th Street since 11 p.m. Sunday. Police have not released information on that scene, only saying it’s an active investigation. A woman who lives in the home had filed an injunction against Nieves for protection against domestic violence. A neighbor, who didn’t want to go on camera, said he was out late Sunday and saw a man and a woman outside the home. It appeared they were arguing and the man was being aggressive, the neighbor said. Another neighbor said she woke up to an awful scene. “Around 11:25, I woke my friend up and we came out front and the caution tape was up and they were doing CPR or something on someone on the ground, and then they put her on the stretcher,” said Stephanie Blocker. “The kids were out there last night with the mom around 8 o’clock or so.” Blocker lives just a few doors down. She said she has met Nieves and the woman who lives inside the home. “As far as I’ve heard, he had a prior restraining order and he broke it and was never prosecuted. I mean why? Why was he able to get back into the house and stab somebody?” Court records show that in February 2020, a woman named Tiffinie Nieves, claiming to be Juan’s wife, filed for an injunction against Juan for protection against domestic violence. The injunction was granted in March, but later that month, Juan was arrested for violating it. The case wasn’t prosecuted. “It’s just shocking and it’s tragic for something to happen like that around here,” Blocker said. “I hope the mom and the kids are OK and they can find peace and the guy goes to jail for it.” Cape Coral police told WINK News Monday afternoon that the woman taken from the home Sunday night is alive. Anyone with information on Nieves or his whereabouts is asked to contact the Cape Coral Police Department at (239) 574-3223 or 911.
