A bomb threat caused the evacuation of the Lee County Justice Center and the Old Lee County Courthouse in downtown Fort Myers on Friday.

Both buildings have been cleared of any threat.

Fort Myers police blocked Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in front of the Justice Center so they could sweep the area. The road has since reopened.

FMPD said early in their investigation that they believed the threat was a hoax, but they were “exhausting all options” with assistance from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, which had a bomb squad at the scene.
