Credit: Crime Stoppers via facebook Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers needs your help tracking down a driver involved in a March 3rd hit-and-run. This crash happened on SR-31 at approximately 11 p.m. in DeSoto County. Authorities say 26-year-old Bobby Brown was standing outside of his car, on the side of the road, when an unknown driver traveled off the roadway and hit him. Brown suffered critical injuries due to the hit-and-run and had to have one of his legs amputated. Brown was left on the side of SR-31 for more than half an hour before a passing driver called 911. Brown’s parents say his recovery has been an emotional rollercoaster, and he is slowly moving toward adjusting to his new normal. “The fact that they left him there with no regard as far as having any type of humanity,” said Reginald Brown, Bobby Brown’s father. “Our concern is that this can happen to anybody, anytime, anyplace. This person is still out there, and they still have the potential to do it to someone.” Reginald said his son has good days and bad days but is looking forward to getting a prosthetic leg, wanting to move forward as soon as possible. Brown’s family wants justice to be served. “I want him to be caught,” reginald said. “I do. I don’t want to send anybody else through this pain. It’s miserable.” The car that hit Brown has not yet been identified. If you have any information about the car or the driver who hit and injured Bobby Brown, you are being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
