Lightning strike sets house on fire in south Fort Myers

A lightning strike set a two-story house on fire in south Fort Myers on Wednesday night.

According to the South Trail Fire Department, the fire occurred on Fawn Ridge Drive, starting in the attic and areas of the roof when firefighters arrived.

The fire has been put out without anyone getting injured. The home is not in livable condition after the fire, and the family was not home when the fire started.

The Red Cross is responding to assist the family because of the condition of the home. The home has heavy water, smoke, and roof/attic fire damage.
