A 39-year-old Lehigh Acres man has been arrested for violently attacking and robbing a man he offered work to, according to the Fort Myers Police Department.

George Moorman, who is also a sex offender, is accused of picking up an older Hispanic male in the parking lot of Bravo Supermarket on Palm Beach Boulevard after he offered to pay him $150 for three hours of work.

The victim agreed even though there was a language barrier and got into the maroon Kia sedan.

But, instead of work, police say, Moorman took the man to the cemetery off of Michigan Avenue, violently attacked him, dragging him out of the vehicle before taking his cash and cell phone. The incident happened on Saturday.

The injured victim walked until he could locate a phone to call 911.

Police say through detective work and intel, they identified Moorman as the suspect.

Police also seized the vehicle, a maroon Kia sedan, after the arrest.

Court records show that Moorman was found guilty of a 2014 arrest where he planned to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex. The girl was actually an undercover police officer. He spent time in prison for the crime and is now a registered sex offender.

Moorman remains in Lee County Jail.
