Florida Gulf Coast University has received a big donation to help grow one of the school’s programs.

Stock Development is giving $2.5 million to the construction management program.

In the last four years, the program has grown from 44 students to more than 200 students.

The funds will allow the program to continue to grow and build on the experiences for students.

The construction industry is big in Southwest Florida, and as we recover from Hurricane Ian, we are in need of more construction workers and managers to rebuild our communities.

“The construction is the backbone of hurricane recovery process, and with the high-quality construction workforce graduated from our program, will have to build and rebuild more resilient communities in our Southwest Florida and beyond,” said Dr. Long Nguyen, professor, and chair of the stock development department of construction management at FGCU.

In appreciation of the donation, the school named the construction management department the Stock Development Department of Construction Management.

It is the first named academic department at FGCU.
