John Gunter reelected Cape Coral mayor; other Cape results

Cape Coral voters made their voices heard at the polls on Tuesday as they chose their mayor and other representatives for their community.

Cape Coral Mayor John Gunter won reelection over challenger Tom Shadrach. Gunter won with 61% of the vote.

The other races on the ballot for Cape Coral residents were Districts 1, 4, and 6.

In District 1, Carol Rae Culliton ran against Bill Steinke. Steinke won with 57% of the vote, Culliton got 43%.

The race in District 4 was extremely close, with Patty L. Cummings edging out Jennifer Nelson 51% to 49%.

In District 6, there was another close race, although not as close as in District 4. Wayne Hecht went up against Keith Long. Long won with 52% of the vote, and Hecht received 48%.
