A house is consumed in flames while smoke billows into the air in North Fort Myers. The fire broke out Monday evening, nearly destroying the home entirely.

North Fort Myers Fire told WINK News it wouldn’t release any details until the state has completed its investigation. But the images some neighbors shared with WINK News speak for themselves.

Flames and black smoke were seen shooting up into the sky. Neighbors were looking on helplessly as a nearby home burned.

One of those neighbors, Heather Groves, saw everything happen.

“He’s out there screaming, just going nuts… And the little girl and his wife were jumping out and getting into cars and pulling their cars away,” Groves said.

“I saw glass shattering like crazy. I mean, you can pretty see through their house at this point,” Groves said.

Groves said her neighbor was screaming for his mother.

“He couldn’t get to his mom yet,” Groves said.

“He said that he tried to go back inside, and he couldn’t do it because he couldn’t breathe,” Groves said.

After calling 911, Groves grabbed her child and two dogs keeping them close.

“I’m just putting myself in their shoes. Oh my gosh, get everybody out and I’m trying to get help as soon as I can,” Groves said.

North Fort Myers Fire hasn’t said if anyone was hurt in the fire, but Groves said the damage alone will keep her praying for the family.

“They really need prayers, because that was that’s not anything easy to go through whatsoever,” Groves said.

“I don’t know where they’re gonna go now because that’s everything they had. It’s just, that’s their life,” Groves said.

When the state completes its investigation WINK News will let you know all of the information.
