Road construction on U.S. 41 near downtown Fort Myers is nearly complete. The area has been under construction since 2018 as lane closures, detours and lane changes have persistently created headaches for motorists. The construction project ran from the Edison Mall through downtown Fort Myers. The road has widened lanes and implemented newer traffic signals with pedestrian crossings. The total cost for this construction project is an estimated $22 million.
