Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has renewed the Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, among other tax-free incentives for Floridians.

During a news conference on Tuesday in Cape Canaveral, DeSantis spoke about relieving some of the financial burden Floridians face during the upcoming hurricane season.

Sales tax will be removed from certain products designed to provide safety for people during severe weather events.

The two-week holiday will span from June 1—15 and again in late August.

DeSantis then mentioned the back-to-school sales tax holiday, which forgives sales tax on school supplies two weeks before public schools return for the new school year.

The governor also announced additional relief, including waiving taxes on all insurance premiums for homeowners and flood insurance policies.

He mentioned that this will be in addition to the $400 million allocated to the Florida My Safe Home program, which funds grants for homeowners who need to improve their homes, lowering insurance rates.

DeSantis then announced additional funding for “Child focus tax credits,” doubling the state’s budget from $20 million to $40 million.

The program grants companies’ tax credits when charitable donations have been made to child welfare organizations.

The governor then announced the yearly renewal of the 50% toll reduction based on the frequency of use while driving on Florida highways.

The renewal is part of House Bill 7073, which will provide taxpayers the right to know certain information regarding property determined not to have been entitled to a homestead exemption.
