On Tuesday, the Lee Board of County Commissioners continued its commitment to countywide infrastructure by awarding a $1.7 million contract to pave 25.1 lane miles in northern Lehigh Acres.

Contractor OHLA USA, Inc. is expected to begin work in January to resurface more than 50 road segments in the area.

Lee County Department of Transportation maintains about 1,500 miles of paved roads in Lehigh Acres.

Certain roads in Lehigh Acres are ranked and selected for paving based on their conditions and the number of residences each year.

Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC will resurface Bonita Beach Road from Kings Kew to the west of Fish Trap Bay Bridge in Bonita Springs.

That project consists of 2.23 lane miles of resurfacing and is expected to begin next spring.
