The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal domestic shooting incident on Holtville Avenue in South Gulf Cove.

The shooting occurred east of Rotonda West in a neighborhood off Gasparilla Road and was reported to deputies late Sunday.

Deputies arrested Rogelio Prestol, 46, and charged him with murder on Monday.

WINK News obtained the arrest affidavit containing the 911 phone call of Prestol saying that he shot and killed his wife.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found a woman dead on the walkway from the front door to the driveway.

Two children were inside the residence at the time of the shooting.

“It’s sad to hear that something like this happened in, like, pretty much in our backyard and that kids were involved,” said Jennifer a neighbor. “And now they have to, you know, deal with that trauma, and scarred for the rest of their life.

The report continues to mention that Prestol was suspicious that his wife was cheating on him.

He discovered that she was in communication with someone on TikTok and Telegram.

When approached with the discovery, Prestol’s wife threatened divorce.

During the night of the shooting, Prestol expressed concerns that his wife was sending money to someone who she was in communication with.

He demanded her to unlock her cell phone and display her bank account.

She refused, causing the escalation and he pulled the weapon on her.

Their son pleaded with his mother to show the cell phone to Prestol.

She then attempted to escape the situation through the home’s office window, and Prestol allegedly shot her.

“Those two children now, in a 10-minute span, lost both parents,” said Tyler, another neighbor. And it’s, it’s so unfortunate for those kids.”

An assessment of the body discovered several bullet wounds in her arm, chest and back.

Following the shooting, Prestol called his brother, saying that he would commit suicide.

His brother convinced him not to follow through, urging him to call 911.
